..With open arms.
The year 2012 was an eventful year for me. Two events stand out.
About a year ago, from the campus of Initiatives of Change, at Asia Plateau, Panchgani in Maharashtra, India, I discovered myself through an extension to Zentangle, I called it'Naturetangle'. Perhaps our work on the 'Diva's Zentangles Challenges was under scanner by Rick and maria, the creators of Zentangle', and the naturetangle finally got us(for Malathi and I) an invitation from them to attend one of their forth coming CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) seminars in the US as their guests- a great gesture!. The honor, however, looked very faint, then, to materialize on account of the very expensive travel costs between India and the US. The destiny , though, has its own ways, and strange as it may appear, the circumstances( my father's illness, and his demise in the US) caused it to happen for me in August 2012, and I became the first CZT from India in India. I also had the honor of staying on for the next 3 days with Rick and Maria, what a wonderful, and memorable experience!
The second event relates to my mother-in-law's very prolonged illness. She was suffering, in pain, and totally bed ridden. Ganesha was her favourite Hindu Deity. She had a great collection of art-effects depicting Ganesha. She also had a good collection of books on Ganesha. I got a simple thought to draw 100 Zentangle Ganeshas as a prayer to the Lord Ganesha in favour of her welfare. It turned out to be a great experience of involving a lot of zentanglers from across the Zentangling World and my Mother-in-law could leave her Earthly abode peacefully even before completion of my commitment of 100 Z- Ganeshas.
I wish to greet each one of you with our New Year wishes as under:

The year 2013 has been declared as the International Year of Water Cooperation, and myself and Malathi, both are passionate about sustainable living, of which, water is a very important resource we have to get concerned about. Malathi has elaborated on this theme in her post, and you could click 'here' to read more about it.
Now a couple of thoughts for the year 2013.
One, I must pay it forward the gesture Rick and Maria has shown to me. I did not have to pay any fees to them for attending the CZT seminar. I shall not charge any fees to 100 deserving zentangle students in India, and this will be my commitment to be completed before 31st December 2013.
Two, I will publish, with the active support of all the contributors of Z-Ganeshas a work book for practicing Zentangle replete with inspiring stories. The book I would like to call, 'ZIA-graphy', will feature some of the Zentangle Ganesha images. It will be an Internationally collaborated effort. All the Z-G contributors are requested to get in touch with me, if they have not already done so.
Finally I thank all of you who have been a constant source of inspiration by way of your valuable comments and feed back to my posts. May the year 2013 create a new social awareness about sustainable and meaningful living for all.

Dilip, what a great list of goals!! Congrats on becoming a CZT.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts and intentions, Dilip.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were able to be in the US because of the death of your father. Wow...my sympathies to you. Amazing how that worked out so that you could come to the training. I am continuing to use Antz so I think of you often:-)
